I don't know, I saw my second fox in Montana in 20 years a couple weeks ago and thought, "Should I tell Elise that I think it looks a little bit like a Shiba?" :) Here's a link (I hope) to what my MT red fox looked like. http://mtnhp.org/thumbnail/defaultGen.aspx?itemid=90811&maxw=1024&maxh=768
(That's not my picture; just the same kind of fox.)
Well that is one fat fox. The red morph of the red fox species does have a colouring reminiscent of a shiba, except that the paws are dark on a fox and light on a shiba. But the tail and the cracked-out facial expression are totally unlike Her Majesty.

You know what looks like a shiba? A dingo.
